STEP 1: Gather Supplies 

Before you can begin cleaning, gather the following high-quality supplies to achieve the most efficient clean: 

• Pressure or power washer

STEP 2: Prepare the Cleaner 

Begin by diluting your industrial-grade masonry cleaner. Combine 1 part chemical to 4 parts water, or if you’re looking to clean a larger area, combine 25 ounces of the chemical with 1 gallon of water. Next, you have two options: 

1. Add the cleaning solution to the pump sprayer.  
2. Add the cleaning solution to a pressure washer and use it as a detergent. 

After completing one of these tasks, you’re now ready to begin the cleaning process and remove excess mortar. 

STEP 3: Spray the Solution 

Next, saturate the surface you will be cleaning with water only. This will allow the chemical to stick to the surface rather than soak into the porous material. You can now start applying the solution to the brick surface.  

STEP 4: Wash off the Mortar

With a pressure washer, begin cleaning the brick from the bottom up. For particularly stubborn stains, apply more of the solution to the area and wash it away with a high-pressure blast again.  

STEP 5: Rinse Stray Mortar

To finish up, completely rinse away the solution from the surface. Start from the top and work your way to the bottom. Never allow the solution to dry on the surface. 

That’s all! Your brick surface should now be free of stray mortar.
